LDAP 'Size Limit Exceeded' Error
The error "Size Limit Exceeded" will be generated when searching a directory if a single node of the directory contains more than 1000 users. This is due to the default settings for Active Directory not allowing more than 1000 entries to be returned for a single node in one search.
This restriction is configurable with the MaxPageSize option in the directory. The following steps show how to modify this option using ntdsutil, a command-line utility for configuring directory services:
1.On the server to be configured, start ntdsutil via Start | Run
2.Type ldap policies and press enter
3.Type connections and press enter
4.Type connect to server servername and press enter
Note: servername is the FQDN of the domain controller
5.Type q and press enter
6.Type set maxpagesize to value and press enter
Note: value is a number greater than the number of users you are attempting to import, up to 30000
7.Type q and press enter
8.Type q and press enter
The modification is now complete, and the "Size Limit Exceeded" error should no longer occur.
