Upgrading Users

Upgrading from Live 2.1

The installation process will install Live 2.2 to a different folder to earlier version of Live. Therefore you can run Live 2.2 along side older versions for testing purposes.

When you run Live 2.2 it will detect any other versions of Live that are installed and ask you if you want to upgrade your files for use in Live 2.2. The upgrade will not delete your old files. It will simply copy them to the new locations for Live 2.2.

Aliases, profiles and triggers created with Live 2.1 are compatible with Live 2.2.

Upgrading from the Live 2.2 Beta Release

If upgrading from the Live 2.2 Beta Release, backup any aliases, profiles and triggers you may have configured, then uninstall the Live 2.2 beta using Add-remove programs. Once uninstalled please delete the following folders before installing this full release:

  • C:\Documents and Settings\your user profile\Application Data\WebSpy\Live 2.2
  • C:\Documents and Settings\your user profile\Local Settings\Application Data\WebSpy\Live 2.2
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\WebSpy\Live 2.2\Defaults
  • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\WebSpy\Live 2.2\Samples

Once the Live 2.2 Full Release is installed, open any saved aliases, profiles and triggers, then click Live | Reset on the Live Status window before adding any Inputs to monitor.

Known Issues

  • If your local time setting is different to your logging device’s time setting, users may be incorrectly displayed as active or idle in Live Status. You can adjust the timezone offset for any Input via the Properties button on the Folder page of the Input Wizard.
  • Live may not import new hits when a monitored log file becomes larger than 2 GB.
  • Some devices and network products take time to commit log records. For example, Microsoft® Proxy may take around 5 minutes to add the activity to the log file. Live will not show alerts until the activity has been added to the log file.
  • Some devices and network products such as Microsoft ISA Server log to database by default. Monitoring databases is not currently supported. However, you can usually change your products logging properties to create text log files instead. Please refer to your network product's documentation for information on how to do this.
  • Setting an input to resolve IP addresses will slow Live's alerting speed.
  • When you open Live, all alerts since you shut down are triggered in quick succession. It may take some time until Live catches up to the current time, depending on the time since Live was shut down, and the amount of browsing that has occurred since. This time may be longer if many triggers are configured to send emails for each alert, and if the input is resolving IP addresses.
